TEAMtalk reported on transfer deadline day that Championship duo Leeds and Middlesbrough made bids for the 25-year-old – who earns £30,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com.
Gazette Live reported later on transfer deadline day that Middlesbrough and Everton had agreed on a fee, but the move fell through due to agent fees.
Encouraging comments
Everton manager Marco Silva has given his take on the situation, and he also seems to have hinted that the Bosnia and Herzegovina international defensive midfielder could leave in the summer transfer window.
Silva told The Liverpool Echo (13:47): “With Besic something happened between the club and the agent, I don’t know what happened. Everything was agreed between the clubs.”
“We will see what happens in the future,” added Silva. “When something happens we will let you know.”
Loan move possible?
It is clear that Everton manager Silva does not have Besic in his plans this season, and that he would not be too concerned if the midfielder leaves.
Silva’s comments do open the door for Leeds and Middlesbrough to make loan moves for the 25-year-old former Ferencvaros man.
If Leeds and Boro were keen on signing Besic on a permanent deal, then one suspects that the Championship duo would not hesitate about signing the defensive midfielder on loan.
