Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand will be hoping his side can build on their impressive European Championship and UEFA Nations League campaigns at the World Cup in Qatar.

The Danish Dynamites reached the semi-finals of last summer’s European Championships before being beaten by England in extra time.

In the third edition of the Nations League, the Scandinavian nation finished one point behind semi-finalists Croatia in Group 1, but they did the double over reigning world champions France.

Just like in Russia 2018, Denmark has been drawn alongside Les Bleus and Australia in Qatar. Tunisia was the other nation to be drawn into Group D.

After qualifying for the biggest tournament in football in the Middle East, Denmark will be participating in a World Cup for the sixth time in their history.

In their maiden tournament in Mexico 1986 they reached the round of 16 before being beaten 5-1 by Spain.

Having failed to qualify for the 1990 and 1994 tournaments, the 1992 European Championship winners that had the Laudrup brothers and Peter Schmeichel in their ranks lost 3-2 to Brazil, in the 1998 World Cup quarter-finals in France.

Morten Olsen’s Denmark side were beaten 3-0 by Sven-Goran Eriksson’s England in the last-16 of the 2002 tournament, which was hosted by Japan and South Korea.

Having been knocked out of the group stages in 2010 and then failing to qualify for the 2014 tournament, Denmark was beaten on penalties by eventual beaten finalists Croatia in the last-16 of Russia 2018.
