Aston Villa manager Dean Smith reportedly wants a new goalkeeping coach.

According to The Express & Star, new Aston Villa manager Dean Smith wants to add a goalkeeping coach and one more assistant to his backroom staff.

Villa boss Smith has already brought Richard O’Kelly and John Terry with him to Villa Park, and the former Brentford boss reportedly wants to bring two more coaches.

Given that one of the coaches is reportedly a goalkeeping coach, perhaps it is an indication that Smith has already identified Orjan Nyland as a weak link.

Nyland joined Villa from FC Ingolstadt in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Birmingham Mail to be worth £1 million.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper is the first-choice between the posts for the Villans, but the Norway international has struggled and has made costly mistakes at the back.

Bringing in a goalkeeping coach will help Nyland to improve, and maybe Villa manager Smith has already noticed that the 28-year-old needs to better himself.

Villa have been struggling under Steve Bruce, and the Villans will hope to get positive results under Smith.
