Has David Moyes’ decision to attempt to recall Robert Snodgrass just given away disappointing transfer hint at West Ham United?

West Ham United surely wouldn’t have needed to think about recalling Robert Snodgrass, if they had additions lined up.

According to the Daily Mirror, West Ham United boss David Moyes wanted Robert Snodgrass back, which may just suggest that supporters of the London club should not get their hopes up about too many exciting attacking additions being made in the January transfer window.

Snodgrass is currently out on loan at Aston Villa, where he has impressed.

The Scottish international has scored six goals for Villa in 21 Championship appearances, and Moyes felt he could be a useful player for his West Ham side.

West Ham were unable to recall Snodgrass from Villa, but the fact that Moyes was even thinking about doing so, hardly suggests he has some top level attacking talent coming in.

Snodgrass was in abject form during his first six months at West Ham, and if Moyes had some transfers lined up, he surely wouldn’t even have contemplated bringing the 30-year-old back.

The Hammers already have a sizeable amount of forward options, and if more players were expected to arrive, there would have been little point in even thinking about Snodgrass making a return.

However, Moyes’ feeling that Snodgrass could have proved a good option for West Ham in the second half of the campaign, may just suggest that a new forward is not on their way to the London Stadium any time soon.
