Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Ben Chilwell, and are considering making a bid next summer.

Tottenham are interested in signing Ben Chilwell from Leicester, according to The Telegraph, with the left-back beginning to establish himself as one of the most exciting talents in the Premier League.

Chilwell has now been called up to the England squad and has made an excellent start to the new Premier League season. The Telegraph reported that Spurs are keeping tabs on the youngster and could end up making a bid next summer.

It looks as though it could prove to be a fantastic signing if Daniel Levy ends up succeeding in bringing him to Spurs. But given his importance to the Foxes, Tottenham cannot expect an easy ride trying to get something done.

And perhaps it would be fair to suggest that Christian Fuchs has already dealt Spurs’ hopes of signing Chilwell a blow with comments that he made over the summer regarding his future at the King Power Stadium.

Fuchs – who earns £50,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – has become a Leicester legend during his time in England, but he suggested, in comments reported by the Leicester Mercury during the summer, that he plans to leave the club when his contract expires this summer.

The Austrian could change his mind, but given that he suggested that his family are a key reason why he has no plans to extend his deal, it would be a surprise if he experiences a change of heart.

With that in mind, it arguably becomes easier to imagine that Leicester will drive their price for Chilwell right up. They will not want to lose two key players from the same position in the same window.

And with one leaving on a free, it would perhaps become imperative that they get an eye-watering price for Chilwell to ensure that they can replace both men if they feel forced to sell.

Whether Spurs are that keen to land him remains to be seen.
