Why do some Tottenham Hotspur fans still question Christian Eriksen’s impact?

For much of his time at Tottenham Hotspur, Mousa Dembele has divided opinion among Spurs fans, with some feeling he was a great underused talent and others bemoaning his lack of influence on the games he did feature in.
That has all changed now, with the Belgian international using last season to prove the doubters wrong in emphatic style, producing a string of fine performances that cemented his place among Mauricio Pochettino’s most important players.

It would take a certain type of supporter to still feel Dembele is not cutting it at White Hart Lane; however there is another player who appears to have taken the former Fulham star’s place as a divider of fan opinion.
Christian Eriksen had a superb season in terms of assists, setting up 16 goals in 47 appearances, and finding the net himself on eight occasions. But while that return would be enough to please most fans, there are those among the Tottenham faithful who feel the Danish international does not do enough.

There is no doubt he goes missing on occasions, but the same can be said of most players who are tasked with playing practically every match in all competitions. And the simple fact is Eriksen’s most productive spell came near the end of the season, just before Tottenham’s back-to-back defeats to Southampton and Newcastle United that saw them surrender second place at the death.
At just 24, Eriksen still has time before he reaches his peak, and it would be no surprise if the former Ajax man follows Dembele’s lead and uses next season to ram the doubters gripes down their throats…proverbially speaking of course.
