Bournemouth are said to be considering recalling Lewis Grabban from his loan at Sunderland.

Chris Coleman may have offered the first indication that Lewis Grabban could leave Sunderland in the January transfer window, with his comments to the Chronicle.

Grabban has been in fine form for Sunderland this term, but there has been suggestions that Bournemouth could recall the forward next month.

Bournemouth may look to offload Grabban permanently, and Sunderland do not appear to be in a position to sign the forward on a long-term basis.

Coleman has previously been tight lipped over a potential departure for Grabban.

But the Welsh boss has suggested today that departures are inevitable at the Stadium of Light, and he doesn’t want to be caught out if a key player does depart.

“It’s inevitable we could lose one or two ourselves so we’ve got make sure we’re pro-active so we don’t get caught short if that does happen,” Coleman said.

“It could be an active transfer window. We could do with one or two faces to help us out but time will tell whether that’s the case or not.”

Grabban is one of the few players at Sunderland who are in demand ahead of next month’s transfer window.

Sunderland’s poor form is sure to have put buyers off many of their first-team squad, but Grabban has been a major positive for the Black Cats.

Grabban has scored 12 goals in 19 Championship appearances this term, and his departure would be a blow to Sunderland’s survival chances.
