Cardiff City want to sign Rangers’ Barrie McKay after missing out on Jonny Hayes to Celtic.
Whether Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha will regret casting off Barrie McKay, one of the most naturally gifted players to walk through the doors of Ibrox for many a year, remains to be seen.
Either way, reports in the Scottish Sun that The Gers will accept just £750,000 for a talented 22-year-old with his whole career lying ahead of him, proof once and for all that he really isn’t wanted in the blue half of Glasgow.
And the report adds that, while former Rangers manager Mark Warburton is attempting to put together a reunion at Nottingham Forest, Cardiff City are prepared to challenge them to a bidding war.

This is not the first time Neil Warnock’s Cardiff have been linked with one of the Scottish Premiership’s most exciting talents this summer.
Wales Online claimed that The Bluebirds had made a £1.2 million bid to sign Aberdeen winger Jonny Hayes, the only man outside of Celtic to be nominated for the Scottish Premiership’s Player of the Year award last season.
Yet, Hayes swapped The Dons for Celtic instead just a matter of days after he opened the scoring agains them in the Scottish Cup final, a game Brendan Rodgers’ side would go on to win 2-1 to seal a domestic treble.
As such, losing out on Hayes to Celtic appears to have encouraged Cardiff to turn their attention to Rangers’ winger McKay instead.
Seven years younger, and available at a fraction of the price, the one-time Scotland international has the potential to be one of the bargains of the summer. And Rangers may have Celtic to thank for inadvertently helping them find a buyer.
