Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has dubbed Jack Grealish a “£30m footballer” after the midfielder’s performance in the 3-2 win over Wigan Athletic at the weekend.
Grealish was in impressive form as the Villans continued their fine start to the season by maintaining their 100% Championship record with the victory.
“He reproduced the form that he produced last year that made him into a £30m footballer and he looked it today, every penny a £30m footballer,” Bruce was quoted by the Mail.
“For me, he was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch. That’s how good he was.”
Grealish’s price named?
As the piece outlines, the 22-year-old was the subject of a £25m bid from Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window closed on August 9 – which Villa rejected.
Grealish was disappointed not to be able to return to the Premier League, but has vowed to work hard and focus on improving his boyhood club once the move didn’t materialise; as shown with his display against Wigan.
Yet this is unlikely to be the last time the England Under-21 international is linked with a switch to England’s top tier and with these latest comments, has Bruce just suggested the price it will take to land the midfield ace in January?
Whether or not Spurs return for Grealish when the transfer window opens in the New Year remains to be seen, but if he continues to play as he is then there is sure to be interest from somewhere.
