The youngster is an established first team player and has won two league titles, one Scottish Cup, and earned individual accolades along the way, and senior Scotland caps.

Inevitably the left-back has been linked with big moves to England, with The Mirror reporting Liverpool are among the clubs interested.
So manager Brendan Rodgers appears to be pulling off a masterstroke by giving the youngster additional reason to stay.

With the manager having full belief in his abilities, staying to follow his manager’s guidance is suddenly essential for Tierney’s career.
Another manager may not have the same view, and Tierney’s career stands to benefit from staying at Celtic.
While they can offer him Champions League football, Tierney could have got this at Liverpool anyway next season, so Rodgers’ vow to help him develop into a more rounded defender is even more important.
In the long term Tierney will become an even more attractive player for potential suitors if he can play in two positions, but right now this should be enough to keep him put.
