The former Nottingham Forest glovesman was superb against the Reds.
His fingertip save from Mohamed Salah’s close-range effort in the first-half was exemplary, when the Egypt international looked certain to score.
After full-time, Shearer said that he felt Darlow ‘has been brilliant’ for the Magpies – you can see his tweet in full below.
The £25,000-a-week Englishman’s stop from Salah’s effort wasn’t his only highlight.
As SofaScore shows, Darlow made four saves in total against Jurgen Klopp’s men, with three of those coming from shots inside the box.
Additionally, the 30-year-old made two successful punches, and completed seven long-range passes.
It is also worth mentioning that the Magpies shot-stopper was SofaScore’s highest rated player in Newcastle’s draw with the Premier League champions.
Some fans might’ve been fearful when Martin Dubravka picked up his injury.
After all, the former Slavia Prague glovesman was the busiest keeper in the division last term, making a league-high 140 saves.
However, Darlow has been absolutely superb in the Slovakian’s absence.
