Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Chronicle delivered an update on Steve Bruce’s situation at St James’ Park.

The Chronicle say that a win against Aston Villa on Saturday will be ‘vital’ in terms of ensuring the ex-Sunderland manager’s job status remains ‘healthy’.

It is also said that Bruce has not been told his job is in danger, but nor has he been told it’s safe.

Furthermore, there is one interesting aspect of the article which prompted a reaction from the supporters below.

The Chronicle sent Newcastle fans into a frenzy after revealing that, deep down, Mike Ashley doesn’t want to sack Bruce.

Why? Well, because he doesn’t cause Ashley any political issues, according to the Chronicle.

That is, quite simply, bizarre – or crazy, as a supporter below put it.

Effectively, what the Chronicle are saying is that Ashley wants to keep Bruce around as he doesn’t give him any problems within St James’ Park.

While that is somewhat understandable, we presume there may be more political issues between the pair if Newcastle were to get relegated.

That is something that could quite feasibly happen, should the Magpies continue in their current manner.

The Tyneside-based outfit have lost their last four games, and are without a win in nine games across all competitions.

Let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about the Chronicle‘s nugget of information…
