Aston Villa are said to be considering recalling Jed Steer from his loan spell in January.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa are considering recalling Jed Steer and that really would be a vote of no confidence from Dean Smith in Andre Moreira.

Steve Bruce brought in Moreira on loan from Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window.

However, the Portuguese stopper has not been used at all by Smith since he took charge.

Smith has not even put Moreira in his squad since taking over at the claret and blues.

And if Steer was to be recalled then the 22-year-old would be highly unlikely to start another game for the Midlands side.

Steer is currently on loan at Charlton Athletic, and there would be very little value in bringing him back to Villa Park, if he wasn’t at least in contention to start.

Steer would likely be used as back-up to Orjan Nyland, who has been the Villans’ number one this campaign.

And that would suggest that Smith has absolutely zero confidence in using Moreira.
