According to The Guardian, Liverpool are keen on Mason Mount as the midfielder’s Chelsea contract begins to wind down.

Mount has been making waves over at Chelsea for a few years now – earning all sorts of performances since his breakout season under Frank Lampard, but now, it may be time for a new challenge.

Mount is being linked to both Liverpool and Juventus in a rumour that should excite every Liverpool supporter.

This is a player with incredible potential and in a Jurgen Klopp team, he could become an absolute superstar.

Don’t just take our word for it though, former Liverpool ace Raheem Sterling has previously gone on the record to discuss just how brilliant Mount can become.

Sterling hails Mount

Speaking to GQ Sports just this week, Sterling stated that Mount could become one of the best midfielders in the world.

“Mason, another top trainer, and a player that’s got a high potential ceiling,” Sterling said.

“He’s a player who has been producing for Chelsea and with the national team.

“He is a player that we are definitely going to need in the future because he has all the qualities to be one of the very best midfielders.”

Coup

This would be a huge coup for Liverpool and perhaps one of the biggest in their history.

Yes, Mount wouldn’t necessarily be the biggest or best player to ever sign for the Reds, but this would be the first time in a long time that the Merseyside club have taken a star player from a true Premier League rival.

In fact, the last time Liverpool took a true star player from a big six club was probably Robbie Keane back in 2008, but sadly, that didn’t work out too well.

Getting Mount in would be a real statement of intent and it would also represent a real problem position being filled at Anfield.
