Sunderland winger Aiden McGeady appears to want more game time at the Stadium of Light.

Aiden McGeady has seemingly admitted to the Chronicle that he could look to leave Sunderland, unless he is given more game time.

McGeady was injured for pre-season and he failed to make much of an impact over the early part of the campaign.

The wide-man has come into Sunderland’s team more recently, but often only as a substitute.

McGeady scored for the Black Cats in their 3-0 victory over Southend United after being introduced from the bench.

But the Republic of Ireland international does not appear to be too happy with simply being used as an impact substitute.

And McGeady has seemingly admitted that he is considering his future at Sunderland, ahead of the January transfer window.

“We’ll see what happens, if I’m not starting, coming on, I’m getting older now, I’m not the type to be asking the manager why I’m not playing,” McGeady said.

“I’ll take it as it comes and do my best whenever I’m called upon.”

McGeady’s task of breaking into Sunderland’s team is tough, as Jack Ross’ side have been in such good form of late.

The Black Cats are currently sat in third place in the League One table, and are putting the pressure on Portsmouth and Peterborough in the top two.
