Rangers boss Mark Warburton was linked with bringing the Australian to Ibrox earlier this summer.

Rangers have been linked with a move for Australian international midfielder Aaron Mooy this summer.
It was reported by The Herald Sun that Rangers were keen on bringing the player to Glasgow, initially on trial, but that request was denied by his then club Melbourne City.
Of course Mooy has now been on the move.

He was confirmed as a Manchester City player earlier today, joining from their Australian partnership club.
However, could this in fact make a move to Ibrox more likely for the Rangers target?
As good as Mooy is he is not likely to feature often for Pep Guardiola’s men. Much like Luke Brattan or Anthony Caceres he is likely to head out on loan.

So why not Rangers?
Mooy would be a brilliant addition to the Ibrox fold from Mark Warburton – potentially becoming the final piece of the jigsaw to sufficiently strengthen the club’s midfield area.
Mooy, who scored against Rangers whilst a St Mirren player in 2011, scored 15 goals from midfield for Melbourne last season and has established himself in the Australia starting XI.

Rangers would be getting their hands on a class act and City would be getting to see him grow in Britain.
It could prove a great deal for both clubs.
