The West Ham United player has been poor for the Hammers and needs to up his game.
While Mark Noble continues to bear the brunt of West Ham United fans’ frustration, there is another Hammers player who appears to have got away lightly in comparison, despite a run of form that would have many other players struggling to avoid a barrage of abuse.
Aaron Cresswell has played 19 matches since returning from a serious knee injury but he has been considerably less effective than he was last season, when he was one of West Ham’s standout stars.
This time round the 27-year-old has struggled to get anywhere near that kind of form and while Noble appears to be the go-to guy for criticism week in, week out, it is unfair to lay the blame solely at the skipper’s feet.
While West Ham have improved since the Dimitri Payet debacle, and with the threat of relegation seemingly behind them now, Cresswell continues to under-perform and it will be interesting to see if manager Slaven Bilic opts to sign another left-back this summer, if only for increased competition for places.
Cresswell is an undeniably talented player, however this season he has not been good enough and that has to change sooner rather than later for the good of his long-term career at the London Stadium.
