Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Marcelo Bielsa has given an update on Luke Ayling after the right-back spent a couple of weeks sidelined with injury.

The defender has been out of action for a little while with a knee injury, and now, it has emerged that he needs to have surgery to fix this problem.

What’s been said?

Unfortunately, this has been a bit of an injury crisis for Leeds and Bielsa also had a bit of bad news regarding Patrick Bamford.

“Bamford has an ankle injury that surely will take him a few more weeks to resolve. It hasn’t been a simple injury, and it will likely take him from the period he was injured to when he returns about a month,” Bielsa said.

The manager then went on to speak about Ayling

“Ayling has a problem in his knee, that is going to require a simple surgical intervention, that will also require some time after this procedure is done.”

Crisis

Leeds’ defence hasn’t been good enough this season, and that’s at least partly down to their ongoing injury crisis.

Diego Llorente has been out for some time, while Robin Koch has also been sidelined for some time, and may still be out for the foreseeable future.

Leeds are in the relegation zone without a win so far this season, and with Watford coming up this weekend, they have a great chance to get a win, but these injury issues will certainly hamper their chances.
