Leicester City have made their biggest move of the summer so far, sealing a move for £24 million James Maddison.

It is a coup for the Foxes, acting before any of the Champions League clubs followed up their reported interest.

Tottenham were one of these, with The Mirror previously reporting they were at the front of the queue.

So while Spurs may go on to regret passing up on Maddison once again, his move to Leicester could end up benefitting Tottenham.

Leicester’s move for Maddison helps make a move for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish less likely, for who they and Spurs have been hotly tipped to sign.

SkySports reported earlier this summer that Leicester were considering making a bid for Grealish.

Maddison’s move changes this with the Leicester Mercury reporting that their interest in Grealish has now ended as a result of signing the Norwich man.

This benefits current bookies favourites Tottenham, who are keen to sign Grealish but not overpay.

The Telegraph report manager Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful of landing the Villa midfielder.

Leicester, who were third favourites, ending their interest will help Spurs as it is one less club to compete with, and it also reduces the risk of a bidding war escalating and helps their hopes of keeping his price low.
