Speaking on the Counter Attack Podcast, Harvey Elliott has been lavishing praise upon Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson.
The youngster was speaking about some of his Liverpool teammates, and he says that Henderson has been brilliant with him, praising his leadership.
Henderson does seem to be the perfect role model at Liverpool, and Elliott believes he’s in a similar mould to Anfield legend Steven Gerrard.
“I don’t think anyone appreciates him as much as they should. Henderson is a legend on and off of the pitch, I can’t say enough nice things about him. He’s just a top captain.
“He’s everything you’d want in a captain, he’s a leader on the pitch, he’s a leader off the pitch. He doesn’t do it for a reaction, he does it because he wants to do it, he wants to have an effect on things, he wants to put things in line and show that everyone is on the same page and just bring people up with him.
“Like everyone else, ever since I walked through the door at Liverpool, he greeted me well. He’s always taken me under his wing, he’s always onto me working hard in training, always wanting me to be the best possible version of myself. I can’t say enough about him and enough nice things.
“He’s someone I look up to a lot, obviously him and Steven Gerrard as well, he’s like a clone of Steven Gerrard really, he’s just a legend.”
Elliott certainly isn’t wrong about Henderson.
The Liverpool midfielder looks to be the perfect captain on and off the pitch, and while Gerrard left behind big shoes to fill, Henderson has somehow managed to step up.
Liverpool are certainly lucky to have the England international in the squad.
