Liverpool wonderkid Harvey Elliott has taken to Instagram to react after Lewis Dobbin signed a new long-term contract at Everton.

What’s the story?

Well, this is big news for Everton.

The 19-year-old, who has already made his first-team debut, has committed his future to the Toffees with a new three-and-a-half year contract.

Dobbin is now tied to Everton until June 2025.

It comes after the teenager registered three Premier League appearances for Everton, following some excellent displays in the youth ranks.

Dobbin impressively scored 14 goals in 36 games for the Under-18 side, while also registering 11 assists.

After hearing the news, Elliott wrote “congratulations bro” on Instagram in response to his friend’s achievement at Goodison Park.

Regardless of the bitter rivalry between Liverpool and Everton, the pair are clearly on good terms.

Everton must use Lewis Dobbin

Everton have some fantastic prospects in their ranks, such as Jarrad Branthwaite, Ellis Simms and Dobbin – it’s time they used them more.

For example, someone like Dobbin – who can operate anywhere across the frontline – is far more deserving of a place in the team than Salomon Rondon, for example.

It also makes far more sense to use Dobbin over an ageing senior player like the 32-year-old.

Look at it this way. A player like Rondon is only going to get worse from this point on, no matter how much game time he’s given.

In Dobbin’s case, the more experience he gains, the better he will become, which is a scary prospect as he’s already a fine attacker.

Hopefully, whoever replaces Rafa Benitez at Goodison Park puts more trust in the youngsters than the Spaniard did.
