Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Harvey Elliott against Athletic Bilbao today.
What’s the story?
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool took on Spanish club Athletic in a pre-season friendly at Anfield this evening.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Elliott featured in the match for Liverpool and was very impressive.
The 18-year-old winger was a constant menace for the La Liga outfit and could have scored twice.
The teenager went close with an ambitious effort in the first half and was then denied by the frame of the goal.
Elliott showed some good touches, passed the ball well, and was arguably the best player on the pitch.
What are Liverpool fans saying?
As you can see from the tweets below, Liverpool fans were impressed by the display produced by Elliott.
Well, some of them anyway.
Elliott spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.
And it seems that the former Fulham man will be part of the Liverpool first-team squad for this season.
Given the quality of players Liverpool have in attack, it is going to be hard for Elliott to play week in and week out, but he is certainly a brilliant option to have on the substitutes’ bench.
