Celtic should sell Kris Commons, Nadir Ciftci, Efe Ambrose, Scott Allan and Dedryck Boyata in the January transfer window, suggests John Hartson.

John Hartson has named five Celtic players in The Scottish Sun who do not have a future at the club.

The former Celtic striker believes that manager Brendan Rodgers should let go of Kris Commons, Nadir Ciftci, Efe Ambrose, Scott Allan and Dedryck Boyata in the January transfer window.

Hartson has given a reason for each and every player he has suggested has no place in the current Bhoys’ squad.

The former West Ham United striker believes that 24-year-old forward Ciftci has been a complete waste of money.

The former NAC Breda man joined the Bhoys from Dundee United in the summer of 2015.

Hartson has also stated that 26-year-old defender Dedryck Boyata is not up to Celtic’s standard.

“Ciftci has been a complete waste of money,” the former Wales international wrote in The Scottish Sun. “Celtic paid £1.5million to Dundee United and have got pretty much no return.

“Ambrose has given his heart and soul to the club over the last four years but he hasn’t featured since July. He has surely played his last game for the club.

“Boyata? He played against Kilmarnock a couple of weeks ago but isn’t up to Celtic’s level. Put it this way, Celtic let Charlie Mulgrew leave and he’s TWICE the player the Belgian is.

“Scott Allan’s days are also numbered. He’s got talent but it hasn’t worked out and he wasn’t even a regular at Rotherham when out on loan.”

“Kris has won eight trophies, scored almost 100 goals, picked up Player of the Years awards and given the fans a lot of great memories,” added Hartson about Commons.

“Kris is a great lad, popular around the place and can hold his head high for what he has achieved and contributed. But nothing lasts forever and he will know as well as anyone that his time’s up at Celtic Park.”

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 40 points from 14 matches.

The Glasgow giants got the better of Partick Thistle 4-1 away from home at the Firhill Stadium in the league on Friday evening.

The Hoops will take on Hamilton Academical at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Tuesday evening.
