Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton is not a very popular figure among the Rangers fans, and his reaction on social neworking site Twitter to Graeme Murty’s side defeat at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon probably did not go down well with the Gers supporters.

Rangers suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership. It followed a 3-2 loss at the hands of Old Firm rivals Celtic at home in the Old Firm derby last weekend.

Heading into last weekend’s match at Ibrox, there were suggestions that Rangers could challenge Celtic for the Scottish Premiership. A win at Ibrox, and the Gers could give the Hoops a run for their money.

As things now stand, Rangers are as many as 10 points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic in second place and have played a game more than Brendan Rodgers’s side.

The advice of Sutton – who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and BT Sport – to Rangers on Twitter following the defeat for Murty’s side is probably harsh, but it makes sense.

The defeat to Kilmarnock shows that Rangers are still quite far behind Celtic, and for the moment, they need to focus on ending up second in the Scottish Premiership.
