Tottenham Hotspur will give reported Aston Villa target Harry Winks another chance, according to Eurosport.

It has been reported today that, along with fellow midfielder Oliver Skipp, Winks will be given a chance to prove himself in the middle of the park under new head coach Nuno next season.

This seems to be a U-turn over the future of Winks.

Football.London reported earlier this month that Tottenham are willing to sell the 25-year-old midfielder.

Blow for Aston Villa

The Telegraph reported last month that Villa are interested in signing the England international midfielder from Tottenham.

Spurs’ reported new stance on Winks is a blow for Villa because Dean Smith’s side will now have to look elsewhere for a midfielder.

Sensible stance?

It makes sense for Spurs to give Winks another chance.

The midfielder, like Dele Alli, was essentially a squad player at Tottenham under Jose Mourinho last season.

The England international made nine starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Winks played eight times in the Europa League, twice in the FA Cup, and three times in the EFL Cup last season.

Nuno is now the new head coach of Spurs, and the former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss will want to take a look at players like Winks closely in pre-season.

However, if Winks is unable to play regularly in the first half of next season, then he should revisit the option to move to Villa in the January transfer window.
