The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been in fine form this season.

Harry Winks spoke exclusively to Tottenham’s official website, after scoring his side’s winner away at Fulham on Sunday, and shared what he thought immediately before bursting into the box to get on the end of Georges-Kévin NKoudou’s perfect delivery.

Spurs currently sit in third spot in the Premier League table, nine points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, and four clear of fourth placed Chelsea, so Sunday’s win was huge for so many reasons.

Tottenham have some of their key players out injured at the moment, so the likes of Harry Winks will have to step up over the next few weeks, and perhaps be more productive in the final third.

The 22-year-old will be hoping that Sunday’s goal is the first of many more to come, and he told Tottenham’s official website what he was thinking just before he made the run into the box deep into injury time at Craven Cottage:

“It was the last couple of seconds of the game and I just thought I’d make a run in there, gamble and see if it would fall to me. It was a great ball in from GK and luckily, it couldn’t have worked out better.”

Next up for Spurs is a trip to Chelsea on Thursday for the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, and Winks will surely have another key role to play for his side.

He proved on Sunday that he has the ability to be more of an asset to Tottenham’s attacking play, and Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that he continues to demonstrate that during the absence of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.
