Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks has told the Daily Mirror that the Spurs squad remained calm in the dressing room following their surprise defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Tottenham were beaten 3-1 at Wembley by Wolves at the weekend, after having the lead in the contest.

Spurs had opened the scoring with a belter through Harry Kane, and it looked like they were on their way to another three points.

However, Tottenham’s exertions over recent weeks finally caught up with them in the second half.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side just couldn’t maintain their intensity and Wolves made them pay with three late goals.

The defeat has put Tottenham nine points behind Liverpool, and arguably ends their hopes of winning the title, just as it looked like they had put themselves in the race.

But Winks insists that nobody in the Tottenham dressing room was losing their heads after the defeat.

“The mood in the dressing room was very calm. Everyone was very quiet and kept themselves to themselves,” Winks said.

“Everyone is gutted — frustrated as well. The most important thing is to reflect on it and then go into the building bright and smiley and feeling positive and try and get ourselves ready for the next game.”

Tottenham have little time to reflect on the defeat as they are in action again tomorrow against Cardiff City.
