Harry Winks’ season is over after Tottenham Hotspur confirmed he has undergone groin surgery.

It is the third year in a row that Winks’ season has ended early through injury.

Last year he missed out on the World Cup. Now he misses the Champions League semi-finals.

Winks has sent an emotional message to fans expressing how ‘gutted’ he is at the development.

Im absolutely gutted that I’ve needed to have surgery at such a vital point in our season. We’ve tried everything to avoid this action but I’m very hopeful that this is not the end of the season for me yet in what has been a great year for the team and me personally #COYS

Winks was coming into excellent form prior to his injury, after finally bouncing back from his ankle problem.

The midfielder’s message explained that Tottenham had ‘tried everything’ to avoid him having to had surgery.

Sadly they were unsuccessful and Tottenham must cope without him, and in addition, he will miss action for England this summer too in the Nations League.
