Tottenham ace Harry Winks sat down for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, and offered high words of praise for his teammate Fernando Llorente, suggesting that the striker has been in ‘great’ form of late.

Spurs have been without the services of Harry Kane and Dele Alli over the past few weeks, but they have incredibly managed to remain in the race for the Premier League title.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men currently sit in third spot in the Premier League table, five points adrift of league leaders Manchester City and second placed Liverpool, and Tottenham fans are beginning to believe that this season could be their year.

With Kane and Dele not due back for at least two more weeks, however, Llorente and co will need to continue their good work, if Spurs are to remain in the hunt.

Winks spoke exclusively to Sky Sports, and praised the Spaniard for the manner in which he has chipped in whilst some of Tottenham’s key men have been unavailable:

“Harry, Dele and Sonny are top players and have been the pinnacle of our team but we have players who can step in who are just as good and can performance at the level and they’ve shown that in the last few weeks with some of the results we’ve had. Fernando (Llorente) stepping up with some important goals has been great.”

Winks himself has stepped up to the plate recently as well, scoring Tottenham’s last gasp winner away at Fulham at the end of last month, but it has been Llorente who has made the most telling of contributions recently.

Pochettino’s side should be incredibly proud of their never-say-die attitude, with the Spaniard deserving of special praise in particular.
