The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder impressed from the start in the EFL Cup clash.

Tottenham Hotspur were eliminated from the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening when they lost 2-1 to Liverpool at Anfield.
Despite that disappointment there were reasons to be optimistic, not least the performance of young midfielder Harry Winks.

The 20-year-old started alongside some of his fellow academy graduates and while all of them can hold their heads high, it was Winks who shone the brightest.
The Tottenham youngster restored calm to the side when he came off the bench against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League earlier this season and that confidence on the ball was apparent once again.
| Pass accuracy | Touches | Key passes | Unsuccesful touches | Tackles | Interceptions | Shots | Accurate long balls | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Harry Winks | 91.2% | 71 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 100% |
Winks ended the match with a passing accuracy of 91.2 per cent – a superb return considering he was playing away from home – while he had 71 touches of the ball with only two of those being unsuccessful.
Winks also played two key passes to set up scoring opportunities for a teammate and he had a shot himself, although it did not find the target.
He also proved his eye for a long-range pass with 100 per cent accuracy from three long ball attempts, and on this evidence he will get more minutes for Tottenham’s senior side sooner rather than later.
