“Last season I wasn’t playing so much and Jan would say, ‘you are a good player, keep going. You will get your chances’,” Winks told The Telegraph.

“And Scott Parker when he was here. He used to give me a lot of advice. He gave me his number and I still talk to him. He is good for advice because he has been there and done it.”

Winks is a talented and promising young footballer, and the 20-year-old does have a bright future at Tottenham.

The England Under-21 international has scored one goal and created two chances in 13 Premier League appearances for Spurs so far this season.

The midfielder could feature for the North London outfit against Championship club Aston Villa at White Hart Lane in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Tottenham are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 42 points from 20 matches, seven points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea.
