Spurs broke their transfer record to bring Tanguy Ndombele to the Premier League from Ligue 1 giants Lyon.

Harry Winks is yet to see record signing Tanguy Ndombele strut his stuff first hand but the midfielder knows that Tottenham Hotspur have just pulled off an impressive transfer coup, speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT (4 July, 12.30pm).

After months of speculation, Spurs fans’ dreams came true on Wednesday. One of the most in-demand and exciting midfielders in world football has moved to North London, costing Daniel Levy a record-breaking £63 million transfer fee, according to Sky Sports.

A player who blends power and finesse, Ndombele could potentially partner Winks in the centre of the park next season as Tottenham hope to once again launch an assault on the top of the Premier League.

But is Winks worried about the addition of extra competition? Not quite. Instead, the England international feels that Ndombele has the talent to take Spurs to the next level.

“We’ve heard a lot from (fellow France internationals) Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko. We’ve heard he’s a top player,” the academy graduate said.

“What he have seen from clips, he looks like a fantastic addition to the squad. It’s an exciting time, it shows the ambition of the club. Its only going to help competition and push players on to another level.”

One of the biggest problems Tottenham encountered, especially during the final few months of the season, revolved around fatigue. Mauricio Pochettino was forced to work wonders with a tight-knit squad but, with Spurs playing upwards of 50 games a season, tiredness was always going to catch up with them.

Ndombele, and a few other signings, would allow Pochettino to rotate and ensure that Spurs are fresh when it comes to the business end of the season this time around.
