The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder started on the bench this weekend.

Once it became clear that Harry Winks was fit for Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Arsenal on Saturday, the prospect of him not kicking off proceedings was one that few Spurs fans wanted to comprehend.
After all, the midfielder has quickly laid an impressive marker with a run of brilliant performances for club and country, both domestically and in Europe, and he has the innate talent to become one of Tottenham’s best players in that position in the years ahead.

Winks sat on the bench for just over an hour of Tottenham’s latest clash, watching as Arsenal took a two-goal lead and leaving Spurs with too much to do heading into the final third.
It was at that point that Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino finally called on Winks, and the visitors’ play dramatically improved as a consequence.

Unfortunately it was too little too late and one wonders what would have happened if Winks had started ahead of a below-par Mousa Dembele.
While Winks missed international duty due to a minor injury, he was clearly ready for the North London derby and it is hard to see Tottenham leaving him out of another huge clash given what happened on Saturday.
