Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard reportedly wanted Harry Wilson at Ibrox, while Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was also claimed to be interested in the Liverpool-owned Derby County winger.

Back in July 2018, talkSPORT reported of interest in Harry Wilson from Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers and Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic.
It was reported at the time that Rangers manager Gerrard wanted to sign Wilson on loan from Liverpool in the summer of 2018.
The report also claimed that Celtic manager Rodgers was a big admirer of the 21-year-old winger and had made approach for the Wales international.
In the end, though, Wilson joined Derby County in the Championship in England on loan for the 2018-19 campaign.
The Wales international – who earns £208,000 per year as salary, according to Spotrac.com – has revealed the conversation he had with Derby manager Frank Lampard that convinced him to move to the Rams.
Wilson told The Daily Mail regarding his phone call with Lampard: “I was a bit nervous, like! I thought to myself, ‘I need to speak to him properly’.
“I answered and the first thing he says to me is ‘Are you driving?’ I told him I’d be home in five minutes and asked would he mind if I gave him a call back.
“He was absolutely fine. When I got in, I rang him straight away and he told me he’d watched me at Hull last season and liked what he saw.
“He said he had spoken to a few people about me and he’d love me to come to Derby. That made my mind up.”
Progressing well
Rangers and Celtic are massive clubs, but Wilson does not seem to have made any mistake in reportedly snubbing interest from the Old Firm duo in the summer of 2018 and is playing well for Derby at the moment.
Wilson has made 23 starts and two substitute appearances in the Championship for the Rams so far this campaign so far this season, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
