Harry Wilson has admitted to Sky Sports that he was “very disappointed” when Luis Suarez left Liverpool.
The South American superstar joined Barcelona almost four years ago in a £65 million deal.
Suarez was adored by Liverpool fans during his three-and-a-half year stint at Anfield and almost won a Premier League title with the Reds in the 2013-14 campaign.
Wilson, 21, shared a number of training sessions with the 31-year-old hitman, and the Wales international, who could come up against Suarez on international duty in China on Monday, says he was gutted to see him leave Merseyside.
He told Sky Sports: “I trained a bit with him when I was a young lad and it was great to see his qualities first hand.
“As a Liverpool fan I was very disappointed when he left, but he helped me with his advice on and off the pitch.
“Even though his English wasn’t the best, what he did have he made sure he used it and he was fantastic to the younger players. He’s a brilliant player, but hopefully we can keep him quiet.”
Wilson, who scored in a 6-0 demolition of China this week, has hit the ground running since joining Championship side Hull City on a half-season loan in January.
The Liverpool academy product has netted three goals in four starts for the Tigers and although there is a ways to go before he is good enough for Jurgen Klopp’s senior side, he is certainly making the right kind of noises so far.
