West Ham United should sell Dimitri Payet in the January transfer window, suggests Harry Redknapp.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has told talkSPORT that West Ham United should let Dimitri Payet leave in the January transfer window.

Payet has been on the books of West Ham since the summer of 2015 and has a contract with the London outfit until June 2021, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The France international attacking midfielder is one of the best players in the Premier League and arguably the best at the Hammers.

The 29-year-old scored nine goals and created 116 chances in 30 Premier League appearances for the London club last season.

So far this campaign, Payet has scored two goals and created 72 chances in 18 league matches.

The future of the Frenchman, though, is wrapped up in uncertainty, with manager Slaven Bilic recently telling The Sun that he wants to leave.

Bilic added that the 29-year-old does not want to play for the Hammers anymore, with the star not included in the team for the London derby against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Former West Ham manager Redknapp believes that the club should sell Payet in the January transfer window.

“He has got to go,” Redknapp told talkSPORT about Payet. “He can’t play again. It will stink the place out if he plays. He wants to go, he don’t want to play for you.

“They have just got to get the right price. The deal has got to happen and it will happen. He won’t be there at the end of the window – no chance. He is finished.”
