Former Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid John Bostock has just come off the back of perhaps his best season of his career yet. He was voted the Ligue 2 player of the year after an exceptional campaign with RC Lens and, as he told Lensois, he admits there is plenty of interest in his services this summer.

So should Harry Redknapp aim for a reunion at Birmingham City?

He did not sign Bostock for Spurs, that was Juande Ramos, but he worked with him for four years and was handed his Spurs debut by the Birmingham boss in a UEFA Cup match in 2008.

But the wonderkid famously struggled to develop at Spurs and rarely got regular football under Redknapp, who was certainly frustrated by his lack of progress.

Well now, five years on from Redknapp’s departure from Spurs, Bostock has finally grown into a player worthy of Championship level football – at least.

Birmingham City came dangerously close to relegation last term and Redknapp needs to improve the side if they are to avoid a similar situation next term.

Bostock has the drive and personality now to deal with his expectations and could be a mercurial player in the Birmingham midfield.

Redknapp should have a second crack at unearthing his best potential.
