Harry Redknapp shares what people are telling him about Pochettino’s transfer stance

Tottenham Hotspur haven’t made a signing for almost a year.

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has told talkSPORT that he doesn’t think Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring in any new signings before Thursday’s deadline.

Spurs lost 2-0 away at Crystal Palace on Sunday evening, as Connor Wickham and Andros Townsend goals dumped them out of the FA Cup in the fourth round.

It’s been a tough few weeks for Spurs; from injuries to Harry Kane and Dele Alli, to being dumped out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, Spurs haven’t enjoyed a great January.

Another factor is that Spurs haven’t brought in any new signings in January, despite those injuries and having failed to make any signings over the summer.

Tottenham’s last signing was Lucas Moura on deadline day in January 2018, and it’s clear that this Spurs side needs some strengthening and freshening up for the second half of the season and beyond.

Yet there aren’t even that many rumours swirling around Spurs right now, leaving fans to believe that Thursday’s transfer deadline will come and go with no movement at the club.

Now, ex-Spurs boss Redknapp has suggested that he has been told by people around Spurs that Pochettino doesn’t really want to make any signings this month anyway.

Redknapp states that Pochettino has actually been offered potential signings, but he isn’t interested as he wants a small squad to work with, and feels he already has players that can come in and play when others are out injured.

“I don’t think Poch wants anyone,” said Redknapp. “He’s not been desperate. People tell me they [the club] have come up with players but he likes a small squad and he’s happy. He feels like he’s got players there who can come in,” he added.
