Harry Redknapp has urged Tottenham’s Dele Alli on TalkSport (30/09/20 at 7:10 am) to ‘not waste’ his career.

The former Spurs boss shared that he has been told that Alli is a ‘good lad’ and a ‘good guy’ but he just needs ‘better advice’.

For a number of seasons now, Alli’s career has stagnated and the fact that he cannot make Tottenham’s matchday squad now indicates that his career isn’t exactly going down the path that he would like.

Redknapp would have dealt with his fair share of talented players over the years, as he shared his thoughts on Alli’s situation.

“In all honesty, I would just say listen, concentrate on your football, don’t go around sitting on your £350k cars or on social media and just get on with your football,” Redknapp told TalkSport.

“Come in every day, train, go home, work at the games, it’s a short career and you are a fantastic talent. Don’t waste it.

“They tell me he’s a good lad. Everyone I speak to says what a good guy he is. I just think he needs better advice. He needs to concentrate, train and work hard every day. At the moment, it looks like he wants to enjoy the life too much. He’s a young guy.”

After being left out of Tottenham’s home tie against Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday, some expected him to return for their League Cup showdown with Chelsea on Tuesday, but it wasn’t to be.

Given the hectic fixture list Spurs have to deal with, Alli has another chance to make the 18 with the North London club in Europa League qualifying action tonight.

It’s quite simple from Alli’s perspective, he just needs to look at Tanguy Ndombele and where he was when Mourinho criticised him and how he has managed to fight his way back into the starting XI.
