Harry Redknapp has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino could play Dele Alli in a forward role during the second leg of their Champions League tie against Manchester City.

On Tuesday night, the North London club secured a 1-0 win against City, with Son Heung-Min scoring the only goal of the game and striker Harry Kane limping off with a serious-looking injury.

It means that Spurs may have to cope without their star man for the rest of the season, with Pochettino having to come up with some alternatives as to who replaces Kane in the forward role.

Speaking to the Alan Brazil Breakfast Show on talkSPORT (10/04/2019 at 8:45 am), Redknapp shared what Poch could do against City at the Etihad as he shared the unlikely player he could use in a forward role.

“I don’t know how he will go and play whether he’ll play Llorente out there or go with some pace on the break and just look to hit them with a sucker punch,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.

“He’s got to [flood the midfield]. He can’t be wide open. He’s got to make sure they are very solid. He’s also got to have some kind of threat if his teams going forward. When you’ve got Son in your team, I think he’s an outstanding player. He might play Lucas Moura and Son. He could play without a frontman, play Dele Alli in that type of position.”

Spurs will make the short trip to Manchester next Wednesday, but before that, they must see off already-relegated Huddersfield on home soil.

Pochettino’s side have already won their opening two matches at their new stadium, with Son and Christian Eriksen getting on the scoresheet as they are yet to concede a goal.

If they can pick up three points against the Yorkshire club then attention will turn to a tough Champions League clash with the winner progressing through to the semi-final.
