The England captain is struggling to find a place at Manchester United at present.
Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney on the bench
Harry Redknapp has told the London Evening Standard that he would take Wayne Rooney to Arsenal or Chelsea were he in charge of either club.
The Manchester United star has come in for increasing criticism this season following a series of lacklustre performances.
His poor form has already seen him dropped from Jose Mourinho’s team, who have flourished without him, while there are also doubts about his future participation with England.

For many, there are questions about whether the United captain still has the quality to be guaranteed a place in either side.
Redknapp does not have such doubts, though, telling the London Evening Standard he would take him at Arsenal or Chelsea.
“He would be a great signing for a couple of seasons and could have a major impact on a Premier League club,” he said.
“He could tip the balance for a top-four team if United were to let him go. I’d take Wayne at Arsenal or Chelsea and he has to play as a No9 or 10 — midfield isn’t for him yet.”

The problem for Rooney is, neither of those two clubs are likely to be interesting in his signature any time soon.
Arsenal have Mesut Ozil in the number ten role while Alexis Sanchez has began to shine as a striker. Similarly, Chelsea have Oscar and Diego Costa performing.
Instead, he must find himself a role at United, although at present it is looking very unlikely that he will be able to do so.
