Harry Redknapp says he is amazed Manchester United did not sign Tottenham ace Dele Alli.

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has hailed England ace Dele Alli, but admitted he is surprised he is not a Manchester United player.

Alli signed for Tottenham two seasons ago, and has gone onto establish himself as an international, and is one of Europe’s most promising talents.

He has already scored 20 Premier League goals, including a brace which defeated league leaders Chelsea earlier this month.

Redknapp, speaking to Betsafe’s YouTube channel, says he is surprised Manchester United did not push through a deal for Alli in 2014 after he led MK Dons to a humiliating 4-0 win over Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils.

He said: “I always look back at that MK Dons game. United should have had him on coach back to Old Trafford, he ran the game. Surely you’d have gone out and bought him.”

United perhaps were too busy carrying out their own post-mortem into their terrible performance that they missed the obvious talent right in front of them.

Tottenham signed Alli six months later before loaning him back to the League One side, and over the past 18 months since joining up with Spurs, he has become a real fan favourite.

Redknapp too is a big fan, adding: “I’m such a fan of his. He’s got everything. He can head it, tackle, shoot, dribble, score goals. He’s the full package. He’s got a bit of an edge to him, I love watching him play, he’s amazing.”
