Harry Redknapp has blasted Tottenham Hotspur’s performance against Gent last night on BT Sport, which was broadcast on 16th February.

Tottenham were beaten 1-0 by the Belgian side, despite putting out a strong team in the Europa League.

Gent actually rested some first-team players for the fixture, but they still proved to be too strong for Spurs.

And Redknapp has slated Tottenham’s display, suggesting that Mauricio Pochettino’s men lacked pace throughout their side.

“It was an awful performance, really disappointing,” the former Spurs boss said.

“I’m the biggest fan of the way Spurs play, but that was awful.

“They’ve rested half their best players and Tottenham have gone more or less full strength, but they had no pace to the team. All over the place they were second best. It was a terrible performance.”

Spurs barely threatened through the contest last night, and their play appeared to be without tempo or creativity.

Harry Kane had Tottenham’s best chance, but the striker fired wide from close range.

Spurs were ultimately undone when Gent scored through Jeremy Perbet, after some poor defending from Pochettino’s side.

Tottenham are next in action at the weekend, when the North London side take on Fulham in the FA Cup.
