Harry Redknapp has told BT Sport that he thinks Sunderland have got ‘massive problems’ after they collapsed against Crystal Palace today.

The Black Cats hosted Palace at the Stadium of Light today, and went into the game with no wins to their name from the first five games of the season.

Many have been counting on proven goalscorer Jermain Defoe to find the net and get Sunderland going, and he appeared to have done just that as he scored twice to put Sunderland 2-0 up.

However, almost immediately, David Moyes’ side collapsed. First, Joe Ledley pulled a goal back just a minute after Defoe’s second goal, and James McArthur then made it 2-2 with an equaliser for Alan Pardew’s side.

Then, in the dying seconds of the game, Christian Benteke popped up to complete a stunning turnaround and hand Palace all three points, leaving Sunderland mired in the relegation zone yet again.

Sunderland were expected to be in trouble anyway, but Sam Allardyce’s departure and David Moyes’ arrival hasn’t helped at all – and Harry Redknapp isn’t impressed with what he’s seen so far.

Speaking to BT Sport, Redknapp stated that manager Moyes has got ‘massive problems’ on his hands, as he’s working with a number of players that Redknapp claims to have never even heard of; signings such as Papy Djilobodji and Didier Ndong may fall into that particular category.

Redknapp added that Sunderland are simply relying on Defoe for goals, but it’s no use whilst they keep conceding, and ultimately believes Sunderland are in big, big trouble at the wrong end of the table.

“David Moyes has got massive problems,” said Redknapp. “He’s inherited a load of players there, I don’t even know who half of them are. Where have they come from? All around the world they’ve been dragged from, and they’re relying on Jermain Defoe to score some goals to get them out of trouble again. He is scoring, but they can’t stop conceding – I think they’re bang in trouble,” he added.
