Harry Redknapp has claimed on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 17th October, that it would be a big gamble for Tottenham Hotspur to start Danny Rose against Real Madrid this evening.

Spurs are set to take on Madrid at the Bernabeu tonight, and Rose has been included in the travelling squad.

The left-back has not played at all this season, due to injury, but there are suggestions that he could have a chance to start this evening.

With Ben Davies out with illness, Spurs are looking for a player who can cover the void on the left-hand side of their defence.

But Redknapp believes that Tottenham may need to be cautious with Rose’s comeback.

“It’s a difficult one. I don’t know with Danny, I don’t know how fit he is. It would be a gamble to throw him in tonight,” Redknapp said.

If Tottenham don’t start with Rose, they have the option of playing Jan Vertonghen or Serge Aurier at left-back.

Spurs are the heavy underdogs to win at the Bernabeu tonight, but Redknapp does not expect Pochettino to set up in a defensive manner.

“It’s a great game to look forward to,” the former Spurs boss added.

“It’s one of those games you can’t wait for kick off.

“I think that’s the only way they can play, they’re an attacking team. I can’t see them sitting back and closing the game up and going for a point. Madrid are going to score. Tottenham are going to have to score to get anything out of the game.”

Tottenham have won both their matches in the Champions League to date, and another victory would almost confirm their progress to the knockout stages of the European competition.
