The ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss really liked this player.
Speaking to TV3, Harry Redknapp has said that playmaker Luka Modric was the “perfect guy to work with” during his time as Tottenham Hotspur manager.
The 30-year-old played under Redknapp at Tottenham for four years, before sealing a big-money switch to White Hart Lane in 2012.
Modric, who was signed by Redknapp’s predecessor Juande Ramos, is currently impressing at Euro 2016 for Croatia, reminding Spurs supporters of his brilliance with a couple of truly wonderful performances.
And speaking to TV3, before the nation’s last-16 encounter with Portugal, the 69-year-old said of the diminutive midfielder: “He’s a fantastic boy. Not a minutes problem, he just lives for football.
“Comes in every day, trains, works hard, never complained about anything. He’s just a perfect, perfect professional and a perfect guy to work with.”
Modric has won two Champions League titles since swapping Tottenham for the Spanish giants, helping them beat local rivals Atletico Madrid in 2014 and 2016.
But Spurs have hardly regressed in the four years since losing him.
They have not won anything but the Lilywhites, now under Mauricio Pochettino, are certainly a club on the rise and the fans will be hoping to see their side mount another Premier League title challenge next term, having pushed Leicester City close for so long last season.
