Everton are currently sixth in the table after eight games of the season.

Speaking to BT Sport, Harry Redknapp has predicted Everton will finish seventh in the Premier League this season.

The Blues are under new management this season with Ronald Koeman taking charge in the summer after Roberto Martinez’s sacking.

He has enjoyed a strong start to life on Merseyside, picking up 15 points from his first eight games in charge.

They picked up a vital point on Saturday afternoon as they drew 1-1 with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

There is widespread optimism around Goodison Park, with fans hoping for a strong first year under the former Southampton manager’s leadership.

Redknapp is not predicting a high finish for Everton, though, instead believing they will be the best of the rest.

“I think Everton will finish seventh,” he told BT Sport.

“I look at the league and for me, the top six will be on a different level. I see them being the team just outside. I don’t think they’re quite good enough.”

The former Premier League boss has however predicted that the Blues could be top four challengers in the years ahead under Koeman.

The Dutchman was lured to Merseyside with the offer of a bright future backed by the funds of Farhad Moshiri.

The majority shareholder made it clear when he invested in the club that he was hoping to see Everton challenging at the top of the table in the years to come.

And Redknapp believes that could happen with the next year or two.

“I love Koeman, they’re an improving club and in the next year or two they will be top six or top four,” he added.

“I’m a big Everton fan, it’s a great football club. I think they’ll come strong and stronger and I’d love to see them do that.”
