Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed, as reported by the Mirror, that his favourite North London derby from his time in charge of the club was the incredible 4-4 draw at the Emirates Stadium in October 2008.

Spurs and the Gunners face off on Sunday at the Emirates as both look to hold the bragging rights and the ascendancy in the Premier League for the next few months.

Redknapp oversaw some remarkable derby clashes during his nearly four full seasons as Spurs boss, and there were plenty of games to choose from.

In April 2009, for example, Danny Rose and Gareth Bale fired the home side to a vital 2-1 win as they closed in on ultimate Champions League qualification.

Then there was the incredible 3-2 comeback win over the Gunners at the Emirates just seven months later, when his side were 2-0 down before responding to ultimately seal a first win at the home of their rivals in 17 years thanks to Younes Kaboul’s 85th-minute winner.

In the return fixture that season the rivals played out a 3-3 draw, and the following season saw another 2-1 home win, but Redknapp says his fondest memory of the derby is from his first game.

In a remarkable affair, Spurs had led 1-0 before eventually falling first 3-1 and then 4-2 behind, and entering the penultimate minute of the game all hope looked lost, before Jermaine Jenas and then Aaron Lennon struck in the dying minutes to earn a draw which was celebrated like a win.

Redknapp recalled, via the Mirror: “That was great, it was like a win really, to come back from 4-2 down was fantastic.

“That was the start of my career as a Tottenham manager, so that was a great start for me.”

Redknapp had only been in the White Hart Lane job for three days prior to that clash, and the injury-time equaliser proved to be a catalyst for Tottenham’s season and his time in charge.

Mauricio Pochettino’s current Spurs side will be desperate to get a result at the home of their rivals on Sunday to continue their unbeaten start to the league season.
