Harry Redknapp has stated that West Ham have a ‘great chance’ of finishing in the top four this season, as he told talkSPORT (02/11/21 at 9:15 am).
The ex-Hammers boss did, however, share his ‘only fear’ is if Michail Antonio gets injured.
Whilst the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Andriy Yarmolenko and Nikola Vlašić can play that role, they can’t provide the charisma, quality and attacking movement that Antonio provides.
Therefore, with the number of games the Hammers play, it is understandable that a slight knock to Antonio could become problematic.
Nonetheless, West Ham fans will love Redknapp’s comments on his former side’s Champions League chances and how well David Moyes has done.
“Fantastic job (from David Moyes),” said Redknapp. “You look at them and they just look a proper team, don’t they? They work, they look solid, they can play and they have goals in them.
“The only fear, and I am sure for everybody and the fans is, if Antonio gets injured. They are short of a frontman. They will miss him because he leads the line.
“Other than that, they are in great shape and they have a great chance of finishing fourth this year. I don’t see them being in the top three.
“But I can certainly see them pushing all the way to the Champions League spot. That would be fantastic for them.”
Nevermind trying to finish in Europe, this is a great chance for the Hammers to win a trophy.
It has been a long while since the supporters from East London have tasted trophy success, but this seems to be the best chance that they have had in a very long time.
They are in the quarter-finals of the League Cup, a 100% start in the Europa League and the FA Cup to come in January.
Even if West Ham don’t manage to get to a final this season, they will probably be disappointed, but something just seems to be right that it can happen.
