Harry Redknapp suggested on BT Sport 3 on Wednesday evening (September 14) that Tottenham Hotspur will win against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League later this month.
Tottenham kicked off 2016-17 Champions League campaign with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to AS Monaco at the Wembley Stadium in London on Wednesday evening.
Spurs will next face CSKA away from home at the CSKA Moscow Stadium in Moscow in Group E later this month.
Former Tottenham manager Redknapp has backed Mauricio Pochettino’s side to get the better of Leonid Slutsky’s team in Moscow.
“I suppose if you have to go there and play, this is a good time to play,” said Redknapp on BT Sport 3 on Wednesday evening (September 14) following Tottenham’s defeat to Monaco.
“You don’t want to be going there in January. It will be a big atmosphere, but I don’t think they are a great side. I think Tottenham can go there and get safe from the game.”
Tottenham do have a better team than CSKA, but Spurs fans should not get complacent.
The North London outfit were expected to win against Monaco on Wednesday evening, but they dropped all three points.
Playing at home will give CSKA an advantage, and if they score the opening goal of the match, then it will be tough for Tottenham to even pick up a point in Moscow.
Tottenham will face Sunderland at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Sunderland are struggling at the moment, and Spurs should be able to get the better of the Black Cats with ease.
